چکیده
A female, aged 29 years, was admitted in July 1932 '?r an appendicular abscess which was drained through a McBurney's incision for more than a week. She was discharged cured after a month. On 27th August, 1934, she was admitted with a big hernia at the line of "icision and was complaining of pain and constipation. A gap 0f two inches could be felt after reduction of hernia and on releasing the pressure the hernia recurred quickly. Peristaltic waves were seen under the skin to the movement of the small bowel. On 30th September, 1934, she was operated upon. An elliptical Portion of the redundant skin stretched over the hernia }v.as removed, the peritoneum was mobilized all round the rent, the redundant portion was excised and the Peritoneum was sutured as in a laparotomy wound. The transversalis and internal oblique muscles were brought together by two kangaroo-tendon stitches, and further strengthened by interrupted 30-day catgut stitches. A silver filigree 4 inches by 2 inches was carefully laid between the internal oblique and transversalis muscles behind and the external oblique in front. The

Incidental finding of an incisional hernia In the 99m Tc-DTPA renal scan of a transplant recepient [Persian]
Abdominal wall hernias are the most common situations requiring major surgeries. In this study, we report a large incisional hernia, as an incidental finding, in a Tc-DTPA scan of a renal transplant recepient. Increased flow of activity in dynamic phase and relatively increased and nonuniform tracer accumulation in static phase of the study were observed.
متن کاملIncisional hernia repair after caesarean section: a population-based study.
BACKGROUND Incisional hernias occur at surgical abdominal incision sites, but the association with caesarean section (CS) has not been examined. AIM To determine whether CS is a risk factor for incisional hernia repair. MATERIALS AND METHODS Population-based cohort study in Australia using linked birth and hospital data for women who gave birth from 2000 to 2011. Survival analysis was used ...
متن کاملPatient Awareness and Symptoms From an Incisional Hernia
Incisional hernia is a common postoperative complication following open abdominal surgery with incidence varying between 3% and 20%. Approximately half of all incisional hernias are diagnosed within 1 year following surgery. In the United Kingdom alone, about 10,000 incisional hernia repairs are performed annually. Incisional hernia repairs are generally elective with emergency repair due to in...
متن کاملAssociation of ventral incisional hernias with comorbid diseases.
BACKGROUND Ventral incisional hernias are more commonly associated with comorbid diseases when compared to other hernia types. We investigate the hypothesis that unfavourable local factors related to comorbid diseases may lead to incisional hernia development. MATERIALS AND METHODS The characteristics of incisional hernia (71 patients), primary ventral hernia (114 patients)and groin hernia gr...
متن کاملThe INCH-Trial: a multicentre randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy of conventional open surgery and laparoscopic surgery for incisional hernia repair
BACKGROUND Annually approximately 100.000 patients undergo a laparotomy in the Netherlands. About 15,000 of these patients will develop an incisional hernia. Both open and laparoscopic surgical repair have been proven to be safe. However, the most effective treatment of incisional hernias remains unclear. This study, the 'INCH-trial', comparing cost-effectiveness of open and laparoscopic incisi...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair
An incisional hernia (Fig 1.) is defined as any abdominal wall gap with or without a bulge in the area of a postoperative scar perceptible or palpable by clinical examination or imaging [1]. Incisional hernia is a common long-term complication following abdominal surgery and is estimated to occur in 11-23% [2, 3]. Risk factors for incisional hernia are male gender, body mass index, cancer, and ...
